We are pleased to announce the 1st Ratnagiri Ocean Swimathon – 2026, to be held on Sunday, 17th May 2026 along the scenic coastline of Ratnagiri, Maharashtra.

Swimmers from across districts and states are invited to participate in this prestigious open sea swimming event. The event structure and categories are as per below mentioned details.

Event Details

• Venue: Ratnagiri, Maharashtra
• Date of Race: Sunday, 17th May 2026
• Last Date of Entry: 10th May 2026, 6:00 PM
• Distance: 1 KM, 2 KM, 5 KM
• Participation Fee: ₹2000 per participant
• Reporting Time: Saturday, 16th May 2026, 5:00 PM
• Race Start Time: Between 6:00 AM – 9:00 AM

Age Group & Distance

• GR-I: 8–9 yrs (2017–2018) – 1 KM
• GR-II: 10–11 yrs (2015–2016) – 2 KM
• GR-III: 12–13 yrs (2013–2014) – 2 KM
• GR-IV: 14–15 yrs (2011–2012) – 5 KM
• GR-V: 16–25 yrs (2001–2010) – 5 KM
• GR-VI: 26–45 yrs (1981–2000) – 5 KM
• GR-VII: 46–55 yrs – 2 KM
• GR-VIII: Divyang (Open) – 1 KM

Event Rules

• The prizes shall be presented to the position holders in each group Male and Female, provided there are sufficient entries in each group.
• If there is any event, where the number of Participants is five or less, prizes will be awarded to first three places only, and if number of participants are between ten to fifteen, prizes will be awarded to first seven places only.
• If in any group, entries will be less than 7 participants, the same group will be clubbed/merged with another group.
• Winners will be awarded with Cash Prizes, Merit E-Certificate and Gift articles.
• First three Winners of each group will get Merit Medals.
• Fastest Swimmer Trophy will be awarded to Fastest swimmer Male and Female Swimmers as per the Distance i.e. 1km, 2kms, 5kms.
• Rolling Trophy will be awarded to Overall Fastest Swimmer Male & Female Swimmers.
• Numbered Cotton Swimming Cap will be given to all participants during reporting and must be returned to the Organizers after completion of Race.
• Details about the event including the race route will be available on the website.
• Medical facilities for all the Participants will be provided during the Race.

Mandatory Documents

• Passport Size Photo and Aadhaar Card (.jpg)
• Medical Certificate duly attested by MBBS doctor
• Certificate of Physical Handicapped / Differently Abled (if applicable)
• Indemnity Bond compulsory for all groups. (An Indemnity Bond for a swimathon is a legal document where a participant (or their guardian) agrees not to hold the event organizers responsible for injuries, accidents, or losses that may occur during the event. Refer sample form attached.) Note: For Group VII & VIII the Indemnity Bond should be on Rs 100/- stamp paper and notarized

Registration Process

Registrations will be conducted online. However, swimmers who wish to submit an offline entry may send it by post to the address provided below along with all the documents mentioned in the circular and the requisite demand draft. Mandatory Medical Advisory

Open water swimming is physically demanding and requires a high level of fitness and preparedness. All participants must ensure they are medically fit to participate. A Medical Certificate certified by an MBBS doctor is mandatory for all swimmers and must be uploaded during registration.

Participants are strongly advised not to participate if they:

• Have a history of cardiac, respiratory, or neurological conditions
• Have suffered recent injuries or surgeries
• Are experiencing illness, fever, dizziness, or breathing discomfort

The organizing committee reserves the right to restrict participation if medical documents are incomplete or unsatisfactory.

Safety & Medical Support

• Dedicated medical and rescue support throughout the race
• Safety boats and volunteers stationed along the route
• Participants must strictly follow instructions issued by officials

Participant Declaration & Responsibility

Participation in the Swimathon is entirely at the swimmer’s own risk. By registering, swimmers confirm that:

• They are physically and mentally fit
• They have read and understood all event rules
• They will comply with safety instructions and event regulations

The organizing committee will not be responsible for injuries, accidents, or loss occurring during or after the event.
